What makes a vlog like yours fun is to share the gift of personal contact. So even if you put loose footage up, make sure to share your opinion, even if briefly, to what you’re sharing.
This way, you’re not just sharing footage – you’re making a connection with us.
Some poor grammar on my comment. Switch a preposition ‘to’ to ‘of’ and it should read better. Sorry!
OMG! Las Vegas is on the list! That’s mah home! I can’t wait to see those episodes.
Yay! I went to UC Santa Barbara for college and 5 years later I still haven’t been able to leave. I think you’ll love it here! I can’t wait to see who you are interviewing in town. My bet is Biodisel Industries.
Why would anyone complain about anything you guys are doing. First of all AMANDA IS BACK ONLINE!!! Second, share everything, who cares about the format, who cares about what it is, I want to see it all. Don’t make any special arrangments for anyone. It’s your blog, post however you like.
I agree with MichaelT. For instance, just this blog post was great in terms of understanding things. If you are bringing us along, and a lot of us are clearly coming, it’s nice to be informed in the back seat. Just makes me, for one, feel more comfortable and loved. (OK, MichaelT never said “loved”)
A seperate feed with text would be fun, so people who don’t read the comments don’t mistake these candid offerings as “shows” and get nasty. Everything has been so overwhelmingly positive and intellegent, “nasty” is kind of jarring.
aah! communication from the Mother Ship.. It is good to hear from our Captain!
I suggest that even though the videos are not meant to be “shows” they are more often than not still perceived as shows (perhaps from our being conditioned by a lifetime of watching television?).
MichaelT says it best, it is the personal contact (with us your readers) that is the gift. It’s Amanda’s blog notes and comments that are directed at us that actually make us feel like we are (as jm said) “in the back seat” as we all travel down the road with you. (btw, I actually did connect with the 12 minutes of the highway driving video. It was meditative, long stretches of highway quiet, and it sort of put me into the car with you all.)
In my humble opinion, it’s all about relationship, our one-on-one connections with others. (and for me, week old videos, no matter how informative or entertaining, can have a much harder time accomplishing connections than nearly real-time blog posts and comments.)
I like that there has been something posted daily. Initially, there were some gaps. That caused some confusion as to what was going on.
I am surprised to hear that the editing is taking place “back home”. I would have thought that would be done on the road as well.
Have been enjoying the recent stuff. Scoring an interview with Iowa’s governor is great. Congratulations.
