09.28.2006 0:38 We love Greensboro, NC!
The very funny, very brilliant Ed Cone was nice enough to house us in Greensboro last night. We met his lovely wife, Lisa Scheer, who is a terrific photographer and also his two very sweet children. They are special people. Open. Interesting. Off-beat.
Today we stopped by a hip coffee house in downtown Greensboro called, the Green Bean to check out Lisa’s exhibit… it was really fab… her focus seems to be both local and industrial– which is particularly fascinating to me. Oh yeah, and we also interviewed Ed about local blogging and Converge South of course! Ed and I performed an “infomercial” about the conference…upon Mario’s request… we’ll see how that turns out. Ha! I’m sad I will be on the road during the conference… but I’m glad we were able to visit with the Cone fam before making a permanent home for ourselves in Cali.
Today I’m feeling… well… just very fortunate. I always knew that…but it’s beginning to really hit me super hard now. What an unbelievable privilege it is to be able to drive around this beautiful country… meeting all these amazing people along the way… And gosh, what a great group of people to share this experience– and this vehicle with… the appropriately named, Escape (hybrid). The people you are with really make or break a trip like this…
Rob’s always the first to volunteer to do what others aren’t in the mood to do, we’ve discovered that Emily has a great eye for photography … and well, Mario’s doing one heck of a job directing this whole venture. Chuck’s been making sense of our journey from Minneapolis … his editing, as you can see, has been da bomb– imagination city!… and Michael will be editing a few upcoming vids that we are pretty psyched about.
Our FLICKR feed is one my favorite tools we’ve been using to document the trip… we are able to update it the most frequently out of all the media we are creating…so THE FORCE can be right there… traveling along with us. It really tells the story of the places we’ve been… where the interviews do a better job to illustrate the people we’re meeting.
Are there any particular questions you would like us to ask locals along the way, THE FORCE? As you can see from our clip with Edward in Virginia… we are looking to add more short, unedited pieces…
On our way to Knoxville tonight… Nashville tomorrow….yay!!
