Blog Tag!

Posted on Sunday 17 December 2006

I got tagged by Michael Ambs who was tagged by Rick Rey. This is fun. Hope my 5 secrets are good. Like “The Girl” my life is pretty much an open book, so this game is a toughie!

1. I played three sports in high school: soccer, volleyball and track & field. I was captain of the track team. I was never really good at sports, so I’m not sure why I continued to make them such a big part of my life for those four years.

2. I am much more comfortable on camera than I am with human-to-human interaction. But I prefer in-person talks to telephone discussions any day.

3. I can move my toes back and forth at an alarming rate that my boyfriend thinks “might not be human”.

4. If someone treats me well, I am the most loyal person in the world. I am a good friend, daughter, sister and partner. If someone treats me poorly, I don’t exactly shut up and take it.

5. I minored in African-American Literature in college.

I am tagging Jeff Jarvis, Jessica Valenti, Jason Calacanis, Ze Frank, and Lisa Stone.

Haha. Yeah, Gary, maybe that’s not such a secret…

My mistake though? Posting anything to the Yahoo Groups. I should have kept it all on my blog. Lesson learned. I just find it really hard NOT to defend myself when lies are being tossed about.

You have the right to defend yourself, no doubt there. I guess it’s a question of judgement though wether it is better to remain silent and keep your dignity, letting the threads die a natural death, or to keep them going with continuing point and counter point posting.

Anyway, I didn’t comment to get into the arguement, I just thought #4 was funny, it made me smile so I just posted to say so. Good luck with your project BTW, I hope it all works out for you.

[...] I normally don’t play web games, but this was started by Jeff Pulver and then Amanda Congdon tagged me so, oh, well, what the hell, now I need to come up with five things most people wouldn’t know about me — which isn’t easy when your life is an open blog. This seems even more egotistical than blogging itself. But here goes: [...]

Mixed feelings about you moving from the wide open internet to a corporate site…but then The Beatles always felt they sold out when they left the Cavern Club for Ed Sullivan.
Hopefully, you will bring a breathe of fresh air and change there. So far, it’s coming across as Rocketboom Lite.

Amanda, might you convince the people at ABC to produce a normal RSS feed for your videoblogging? The underlying RSS feed serving the iTunes subscription doesn’t seem to work elsewhere (http://abcnews.go.com/xmldata/xmlPodcast?id=2727783&src=i).

    just a weekly (5min) show?
i think you’re making a good move, and this will evolve with your creativity, but you and ABC need more frequent episodes. A lot of stuff happens in a week.

    Hi Jim,

Actually I’m really happy with the 5-minute weekly format. Since I am working on another weekly show that will launch very shortly at StarringAmandaCongdon.com, text blogging for ABC, and working on developing a multi-platform HBO show, I’m booked solid.

It’s true that a lot of stuff happens in a week, but this is more of a commentary show, rather than a “breaking news” show…

Thanks so much C.K… This is gonna be a little hard for me because I talk anything and everything about myself all the time, I mean how much more of an interesting person could you ask for? I was Time’s Person of the Year *cough*copout*cough*, so you must be dying to know. In all honesty though, I’m borderline exhibitionist (in the non-sexual way), there’s rarely a question I won’t answer. On with the show! [...]

    Hi Amanda and All,

Talking about Ze Frank. I just watched an 18 minute talk by him on http://www.TED.com. This is a place that famous scientists and others have did talks for like Richard Dawkins. Al Gore has even done a talk for TED. I was suprised to see Ze Frank on it but after all it is about a meeting of idea. His 18 minutes was funny as hell, I would recommend it to anyone who hasn’t seen it.

Amanda – Its good to see you doing news again :-D

[...] If you blog, it’s a fair bet that you know about memes – those viral efforts that spread through social networks like chain letters. Today, I got “tagged” in a blog meme, by none other than Will Sullivan. I won’t pretend to be put off by it, since I’m sort of geeked to have gotten tagged (especially since others who’ve participated include Jeff Jarvis, Howard Owens and Amanda Congdon, among others).
