DuPont Science Stories

Posted on Sunday 18 March 2007

Just saw this pop up in my google alerts. I made these fun, little infotainmercials back in the beginning of Dec ‘06. They came out pretty well, I think — informative, snappy. And no, they didn’t pay me to say that!

They’re worth checking out if you are looking to get in touch with your inner dork … or if you enjoy monitoring alternative forms of advertising.

yeah, they were definitely going for a conservative look.

I had a good time– it was a fun shoot! I got to keep most of the t-shirts too which was cool.

Very cool Amanda, only one video is available now for me; “Protecting the Protectors:”, but it says check back on the others which I will do for sure. Indeed I will. :-)

[...] I just love this headline. Wow, what a scoop joke. As I mentioned on my blog Sunday evening, I made these “infotainmercials” for DuPont.  I love how that ridiculous word spread like wildfire… that was my intention. A little experiment that WORKED. [...]

[...] Whoa, now. That’s some harsh blowback. And hardly warranted, since no one really “caught” Congdon doing anything. She posted a link herself to the DuPont ad days before the HuffPo and Radar articles. Congdon defends herself at her personal blog with this bit: ABC and HBO both approved the DuPont spots. And under the “blogger” title, which is what I am, hello? I am not subject to the “rules” traditional journalists have to follow. [...]

[...] Eventually the story hit the Huffington Post with the headline “ABC Videocaster Congdon Caught Working For DuPont On The Side.” But Congdon wasn’t “caught” — she had pointed to the ads on her blog, and she later wrote that ABC and HBO had approved the DuPont work. [...]

Read the artilce in Adweek re: Dupont a few weeks ago and checked out the science stories. Good stuff; however, it was very difficult to find any of the video or the content from the dupont website (if you didn’t know it was called “Science Stories” or you were totally unfamiliar the odds of you finding the content are not good).

    Just thought you should know.

Keep up the great (and entertaining) work.
