Man Down!

Posted on Friday 12 January 2007

I’m ill. I can’t say whether this is from the tasering or not. About 12 hours after the “incident” I started feeling terrible.. And from Wednesday around noon pacific until now I’ve been bedridden… only up for a couple hours at a time. Now it feels like the flu, so maybe it’s just that. Can’t say. I’m the type of person who will try most things once… but I would never get tasered again. Again, I can’t blame my illness on the stunt… but I am sick. Hopefully my powers of analysis will be in full effect when I’ve recovered and I’m able to make sense of this all. Who lets themselves get tasered? Geesh.

I will say this: the actual event didn’t hurt. It was HORRIBLE, but it didn’t “hurt” in the traditional sense.

P.S. I have been taking my daily pictures… just haven’t been uploading… I will upload when I feel better.
P.P.S. Starring AC will be hosted by Andrew Congdon this week due to my condition. Andrew in the clutch! Thanks sweetheart.

The flu is all over the place. As for the stunt, I think it helped you turn the corner at ABC. ALMOST NO NEGATIVE COMMENTS (Drew was probably busy at the convention).
    Feel better.

Amanda… I don’t know, really. Probably everyone who wants to buy a taser, and every law enforcing person equipped with it should be required to be shot with one a single time to demonstrate the effect, but just for no reason? Girl, girl, girl…

    Get well.

    Hey A,

Steve is sick too. A few of our friends were sick during the last leg of CES. Tasering didn’t help – but everyone seems to get deathly ill after CES… I think it’s a combo of so many people, shaking hands, touching objects, going in and out of hot and cold places… Maybe being tasered lowered your body’s immune system for a brief period and let all those CES germs get in, idk… take care of yourself, hope you feel better soon. And no more tasering!!

Do not do things like that. If they were safe they would not use them on criminals. they are not safe.

Maybe you were on the verge of getting something and your immune system just siffered an extra zap, so to speak.

The Andrew C episode was “hella awesome.”

As the one-armed man in Arrested Development says, THAT’S whyyyyy you don’t eat the buffets in Vegas.

Great piece. This is the most interesting thing I saw come out of CES.

You were around a lot of people in Vegas, on the plane, and however many airports you went through — doubt it’s got a thing to do with being tasered. You’re brave though. I’ve had worse, but I didn’t have any choice in the matter. :)

Hmm. The first time I ever got tased, for a newspaper story on the nasty little things, I got really sick afterwards too. I had flu-like symptons for several days, notably real pain whenever I tried to move my eyes. My doctor blasem it on a virus, and advised me there was “a lot of this going around.” (I think learning to say that is the only thing they are taught in the first year of medical school.)

I came to believe, a la Chuck, that I was on the verge of getting sick before the zap, and the trauma to my innards was enough to let the disease blossom in all it’s toilet-hugging glory.

I’ve been zapped since without a recurrence. (I have got to stop covering those anti-war demonstrations….)

Rest in bed. Drink plenty of (non-tequila) liquids. And whatever you do, don’t sign any releases for a while.

That was a great show with AC. I don’t think tazers will make you sick, but I did eat a dead frog once and it did make me sick. Oh yeah, I’ve left several messages on ABC comments and none of them were published. They must have some tough censors there.

I hope you’ve gotten checked to make sure it’s not from the tazer. Unfortunately, it would be better for US all if it was and you could prove it.

maybe this will cheer you up… 3 little pigs get tazered
