Why I LOVE Rosie

Posted on Sunday 24 December 2006

She’s got an opinion.

She’s not polished, she’s real. And that’s interesting.

She’s not PC.

She’s hilarious.

She’s smart.

She takes a lot of flack but she never shuts up.

When she falls, she picks herself up and keeps going.

I’m proud to be on the same network with her. Go Rosie! Never stop!

I have pretty much missed this whole battle due to me never actually watching tv but I’ve heard most of comments made. I think Trump went too far.

Oh Amanda, It pains me that we agree so much on this one! I’m no flaming liberal but Rosie was so dead on in trashing Donald Trump. He was the ultimate jerk humiliating Miss USA. Would he treat his own daughter that way? Or would he have suggested that the Bush twins go to rehab when they were underage drinking. Thank you Rosie and feel free to hoist a couple beers on my vlog and we can really say what we feel about this megalomaniac.

Good call, Amanda. We need so many more people who just say what they feel and don’t tailor themselsves for the media. I hope you never lose that quality. I also feel sad that there are almost no left-wing voices on the regular media. So often “liberal” is seen as left and it definitely is not. One look at what goes on in Europe, Latin America or most other places that have any free media have lively analysis and opinions from the left. Sometimes this country is a difficult place! But the hope is on the internet, with bloggers and a huge world where you can find every opinion.

While I can accept your list, there are other traits that Ms. O’Donnell possesses that are not on your list. It is those, I suspect, that people take exception to. If she is going to opinionated, she is going to take heat . . . like all of us.

I especially liked Rosie’s witty comments on how well Danny Devito’s “The View” performance was received in China. Very insightful. If you didn’t see it, it went something like this:
“ching chong ching chong Danny DeVito. Ching Chong.”

I’m not kidding. Rosie is racist cow who needs to lighten up herself. To the tune of a few pounds.

If you think that’s being “Not PC,” I regret that I won’t be reading anymore of your writings.

    Too bad.

Rosie is… well, not TV ready. And yeah, I love her for it. One dumb joke does not a racist make. She is outspoken, and I don’t agree with everything she says.

But she at least has the balls to say it. Good for her.

You could also title your Blog, “Why I love Ann Coulter”. But I would bet that you despise Ann Coulter. The traits you describe pertaining to Rosie are endearing only because she is an ultra liberal like you. Comment?

Rosie isn’t smart. She’s mouthy, but she’s stupid.

It was important for someone with her visibility to point out the atrocious double standards between men and women of ‘moral’ behavior (e.g. Trump is surely a raging hypocrite). Nevertheless, it’s a letdown seeing you defending her right after the whole “ching ching chong” joke. It wasn’t edgy, intelligent, nor funny. It was just outright hurtful to a lot of people.

And to this “Dominic” character, stop using the “ultra liberal” label as if it were some sort of horrible personality attack. It’s tiresome seeing so many people echoing the rhetoric of the conservative AM radio talk show as if it has any basis outside of existing in some delusional moral high ground.

Sorry. Rosie is not smart. She is a hypocrite. She SAYS she is anti-gun, but advertised for gun-seller, K-Mart. She SAYS she is anti-gun but has gun-toting bodyguards.

    Guns = Bad for you
    Guns = Good for Rosie

If you want to be an egotistical racist bigot, go ahead, this is America where we have freedom of speech. You only are forced to be equal “under the law”. If you don’t like Donald or Rosie, change channels or don’t buy their products.

I think the bigger issue here is that of the acceptable drinking age. 20 years old and you can’t have a fucking beer? Gimme a break. I’m so glad I don’t live in the nazi states of america. I’m 28 now, but if I was 20, I’d leave because people don’t think I’m old enough to handle myself responsibly yet. Now let me get this straight, at 20 you can go off and fight for America in any of it’s unjustified wars, but they say you’re not old enough to have a drink to settle your nerves after your tank gets shelled. Well that’s just beautiful isn’t it? The U.S. is a joke, and it’s run by the puritanical christian right who tell you what to do, but then go and do the opposite. If Rosie is on the left, she’s not being consistent. Trump looks like the reasonable one, because he cut the kid a break for an issue that really shouldn’t have even been one. Rosie’s opinion isn’t worth the airtime it’s said on, and if you think Rosie is smart, then I suspect your intelligence is at question as well. But then, you’re an American, aren’t you?

I love Rosie too. And I’m sick of liberals who take themselves sooooo seriously. And yes, I consider myself liberal. The whole ching-chong thing was such a non-event. I’ve seen that same thing done a million times (on TV, at work, even with my other so-called liberal friends). And now, suddenly, Rosie’s a racist ‘cow’? I call bull shit.

It’s how Chinese speaking people sound to someone who doesn’t speak Chinese! I’m sure we English-speaking people sound just as odd to those who don’t speak English. There’s nothing more to it than that. Quit reading in that Rosie thinks Asian people are stupid or inferior. That’s not what she was saying or inferring. Lucy Liu got it. Why can’t all of you?

It’s getting to be just like that episode of South Park where everything was PC’d down to a Philip Glass concert for the holidays. Ugh!

    Go Rosie….and go Amanda!

Amanda rules, but Rosie drools. There’s a difference between not looking like a model and blowing snot on national television. And the way she ambushed Tom Selleck on her show was the beginning of her showing her true colors. Little could we imagine at the time the Queen of Nice was really the Jester of Grotesque.

Funny? not in 10 years at least….
Smart…my neighbor has a dog that is really smart……
    Not polished……..try slovenly
Add to that a name dropping sycophant.

If you love that then, ‘yep you’ll love Rosie.

It’s one thing to be so mentally retarded to not have a clue that mocking the Chinese was going to get her shit. It’s an entirely different thing to be so doubleplus mentally retarded that you don’t have the courtesy to apologize for your own cultural insensitivity. It’s not about being politically correct, it’s about learning that the shit that you do upsets other people, and then admitting you were wrong.

    I don’t think she’s a bigot really, I think she’s an arrogant, self-centered retard.

Having an opinion is fine. Never shutting up about your opinion and being boorish and crude and overriding the comments and opinions of others is not fine. The lady needs to learn some tact and decorum. It is very possible to be NOT politically correct without acting socially inept.

    Cher Amanda,
Rosie has, at the end of the day, no talent for being anything. The fact that she boosted the ratings of the view says more about how abysmal the View ratings were than it does about Rosies talent. On TV as well as on the Net being a ranter and a masterblaster always pays dividends in the short run. She’s actually less admirable than Trump but only because she has achieved so little and demands to be recognized for it.

In the back of my mind I have a suspicion that the Rose-Donald fued was staged from the beginning, by a media industry that doesn’t want to cover anything meaningful but doesn’t have the talent to think up something entertaining.

Increasingly, when I ask people who primarily get information from TV if they know about this or that breaking story or recent major event or other important news, they never heard of it.

Today’s TV and radio remind me of those depicted in Fahrenheit 451.
